FRIENDS!

When Zane and I moved to the Chicago area after we got married, it seemed like an opportunity for adventure. Neither of us had ever lived outside of the great NW, spending the majority of our lives in Washington or Idaho. But hey, we're young! So we made the haul.
One thing I really miss about "home" is all my friends, related to me or not. I came across some pictures of them at the going away get-together thrown before we left.

Emily and Alonna

left to right: Emily and Alonna. Alonna is a shirt-tail cousin, (don't ask us to explain the relation, it's complicated) but I'll claim her as part of my family ANY day, because she's just great. The going away party was in Em's house, as were many other defining moments of my young life. (No relation, just a good friend, great friend, TREMENDOUS friend!)

Patience and Elisha

left to right: Patience and Elisha. One of my best friends, Patience is partly responsible for Zane and I ending up together. She'd been friends with him for years and even though she didn't introduce us, she did give me an excuse to visit her hall...which Zane conveniently attended as well. ;) I met Elisha just months before her wedding, and am just so happy for her. Her one year wedding anniversary is May 7th! Also a sweetheart.

Kylie Raye

Kylie Raye. Younger sister of Patience, and my unofficial adopted sister. Hillarious, gorgeous, genius.

Mmmmm... FOOD!

Club Sandwitch

So today I had food on my mind...and shirt. (You know how that goes) I used to work at a sandwich shop and tried just about every combo of sandwich ingredients available. It was there that I discovered my love of the reuben (corned beef, sauerkraut, swiss cheese usually on grilled rye with thousand island and/or horseradish sauce) and the delicate flavor an avocado can add to simple things like turkey or egg salad. I could go on forever about food, mmm...food, but instead, I'll let you. What's your favorite combination of sandwich ingredients? What's the weirdest sandwich you've ever eaten?-you must have personally eaten it. (Burgers do not count) Ok?

So here are mine:
Favorites: #1. Roast beef, lettuce, sprouts, cucumber, provalone cheese, on thick, dark wholewheat slices with mayo.
#2. Sliced Turkey breast, lettuce, avocado, bacon, on toasted sourdough with mayo and mustard.

Weirdest combo ever: Ham, avocado, cream cheese, lettuce, sprouts, pickles, on dill bread with mayo and mustard. It was full of good things, but all together it was the oddest thing ever.

Ha! Top that!

P.S.- I have no idea what the sandwich in the picture is called, but would YOU eat it?

STUCK ON YOU

Stuck on You!

This is another one of our engagement pictures. We are standing in front of the new fountain in Riverfront Park, Spokane. That also happens to be just feet away from where Zane proposed. Sorry that you can't see the fountain better. It's bronze and BIG and has lots of lights shining on the water. At night it's quite the sight to see. If we'd not had the flash on you could have seen the fountain but not us. We thought you'd rather see us, sorry if we were wrong. :)

I'm trying to upload some more recent pictures of us and of our new congregation, but it's not the first thing on my list and keeps getting put off. I'll get around to it, I promise. Love you all! Take care.
