Luis Alejandro De La Vegas and Steve’s Adventure

Zane and I recently spent 10 days in Washington State, visiting our families and friends. We didn’t take very many pictures but we have two pets that we take on all our trips with us, and we did take footage of them.

The monkey is Steve, named after a friend of ours in New York, and the rhinoceros is Luis Alejandro De La Vegas.

Apple Picking 10-4-09

Both Zane and my first time going apple picking, and I think Amanda's too. Who knows, I can't remember a month ago, it could have been ALL our first time.
We ate soooo many apples in the orchard that by the time we left, we didn't want to eat any of the apples we bought to take home. :(
We got a bushel and split it between the Z&Me and Cindi&Amanda. WAAAAAAY too many apples. Next time it's probably going to be a half-bushel or a 'peck'.
This is surprising, considering I grew up around farms and farmland and crops and such, but I had never actually heard the word 'peck' properly used outside of 'peter piper picked a peck of pickled peppers.' It's an actual thing, a peck! Go figure.
I know that we can't wait to go again next year.

Ramblings 1

What? I just saw that my phone does not know the word “emailing.” How in this day and age does a phone NOT have emailing in it’s T9 dictionary? It also did not have the word “taco.” Come on people, taco? Really?! It’s like the 2nd most frequently eaten food in America, I’m pretty sure. Right behind sandwich. My phone knew how to spell sandwich, no problem. Stupid phone. Oh, but it’s orange! Ok, since you’re pretty I’ll let this one slide, phone. But no more second chances.

Navy and the Pier

Monday I headed downtown with some friends to show some new friends more of the city of Chicago. We headed to Navy Pier and walked all the way to the end. Navy Pier used to be actually used by the Navy, but now it's more like a mall on the water. You can take boat rides out into Lake Michigan and into the city on the river. It's easy to forget and call Lake Michigan the ocean because it's so big. It's more than big, it's GREAT. The weather was perfect, but since it was early in the day and a weekday, the Pier wasn't super busy. We just hung out at the end for a while, perfect for a photo opportunity.

Inside is a children's museum and an IMAX theater. Upstairs is a large greenhouse with palm trees and tropical flowers. There's also a ferris wheel and a carousel. Nearer the end is the Shakespear Theatre, where they were advertizing Aladdin. We walked around singing "A Whole New World' for a while after that.
At one point we headed inside to a stained glass museum to see the one with the Tetragrammaton in one of the peices. Pretty cool. On our way back to the entrance of the pier we went inside to the food court. Chad enjoyed what I believe to be the best hotdog in the world: A chicago style hotdog, complete with tomato slices and celery salt. I think he'd agree to that. Nina and I had sub-par mexican food. Boo.

After eating it was time to go. We had lots of fun, at least I did, and hope to see my new friends soon. I have to mention that Sierra made sure those who hadn't yet were exposed to Garrett's Popcorn. Haven't had it yet? Shame on you.
A big shout out goes to Atit and Tyler who walked all the way back to the cars at one point to add money to the meter so we wouldn't get tickets. THANKS GUYS!

tea anyone?

I am posting this for two reasons:
1. to see what an uploaded youtube video looks like in comparison to the ones I've uploaded through blogger.
2. I like this song and thought you might too. :)
